About the Redmi Note 12 Pro / Pro+ / Discovery

The Redmi Note 12 Pro / Pro+ / Discovery family encompasses three smartphones powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1080 (MT6877V) chipset: the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, and the 210W HyperCharge Discovery Edition. All three share the unified engineering codename "ruby" and utilize the same official Fastboot firmware image tree.

Because Xiaomi distributes official Fastboot firmware as double-compressed .tgz packages with integrated batch flashing scripts, flashing via Mi Flash Tool is the primary method for unbricking, clean upgrades, and partition recovery. This guide covers the complete flashing walkthrough and highlights the critical "clean all" rule to prevent cross-region bootloader locking.

Which Flash Mode Should You Use?

Fastboot CLI (Direct Script Execution)

Advanced partition flashing executing flash_all.bat (Windows) or flash_all.sh (Linux/macOS) directly via command line. Bypasses the Mi Flash GUI while flashing the exact same image set.

How to enter
Reboot device to Fastboot mode and connect to computer terminal
Requires
Android Platform-Tools (fastboot), unlocked bootloader, extracted firmware folder

Qualcomm EDL / QFIL (Not Applicable)

Qualcomm Emergency Download (EDL) and QFIL tools apply exclusively to Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. The Redmi Note 12 Pro family (ruby) is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor; Qualcomm utilities cannot communicate with this hardware.

What You Need Before Flashing

1
Unlocked Bootloader

Fastboot flashing requires an officially unlocked bootloader via the Mi Unlock tool.

2
Windows PC

Mi Flash Tool runs on Windows 10/11. Use a direct motherboard USB 2.0 port for reliable fastboot packet transfer.

3
Extracted Fastboot Package

Extract the downloaded .tgz package twice (tgz to tar, tar to folder) into a directory path without spaces.

4
"Clean All" Selection

Always verify the bottom right toggle in Mi Flash Tool is set to "clean all" β€” never "clean all and lock".

5
Battery Charged to 50%+

Ensure your phone holds sufficient charge so it does not power down during dynamic partition writing.

flash_all.bat (Fastboot Script Package)

Extract your downloaded .tgz archive twice using 7-Zip or WinRAR. The final extracted folder contains a subfolder named /images/ and several batch scripts (flash_all.bat, flash_all_except_storage.bat, flash_all_lock.bat). Point Mi Flash Tool to the top-level extracted directory containing these batch scripts, not the inner /images/ folder.

Common Errors on the Redmi Note 12 Pro / Pro+ / Discovery

error: Not catch checkpoint (\$fastboot -s .* lock), flash is not done

This is a cosmetic Mi Flash Tool status message that occurs when selecting "clean all" instead of "clean all and lock". If the phone reboots and the progress bar finished, the flash was completely successful.

cannot find script flash_all.bat

The folder selected in Mi Flash Tool does not contain the batch files. You either selected the outer wrapper folder instead of the inner folder, or you did not extract the .tar file inside the .tgz package.

This MIUI/HyperOS version can't be installed on this device

The bootloader was locked while running mismatched regional firmware (e.g. Global ROM on China hardware). You must unlock the bootloader again using an authorized account or flash the native China ROM.

Fastboot device disconnects after 3-5 minutes

MediaTek Fastboot mode has an automatic inactivity timer. If left idle without active data transfer, the phone automatically reboots to protect the battery. Put the device back into Fastboot mode right before flashing.
