Before you flash: Flashing firmware will erase all data on your device. Back up contacts, photos, and apps before proceeding. FlashGuideHub is not responsible for any damage caused by following this guide.
About the Tecno Spark 6 Air
The Tecno Spark 6 Air is a budget smartphone powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 (MT6761) quad-core processor, equipped with a 7.0-inch HD+ display and a 6000mAh battery. Official firmware packages are distributed as MediaTek scatter files.
Because Tecno implements hardware-level SLA/DA authentication on the Helio A22 platform, flashing with SP Flash Tool requires bypassing BootROM security. This guide covers the full flashing process for both the KE6 (Android Go) and KE6j (Standard Android) models.
Which Flash Mode Should You Use?
SP Flash Tool with Auth Bypass
The primary flashing method for Tecno Spark 6 Air. Writes all partitions via MediaTek BootROM mode. Requires an auth bypass tool to bypass SLA/DA security. Erases all user data on full reflash.
MTK Auth Bypass / mtkclient
Used to disable hardware BootROM security before flashing with SP Flash Tool, or for direct read/write partition management via python mtkclient.
EDL / QFIL (Not Applicable)
Qualcomm Emergency Download (EDL) and QFIL apply only to Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms. The Tecno Spark 6 Air runs on a MediaTek MT6761 chipset; Qualcomm tools cannot connect or interface with this device.
What You Need Before Flashing
SP Flash Tool and MediaTek USB VCOM drivers run on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit recommended).
Download firmware matching your exact model: H6116MNO for KE6 or H6215GH for KE6j. Cross-flashing damages display compatibility.
A BROM auth disable utility (such as MTK Auth Bypass or mtkclient) is required to bypass Tecno hardware SLA security.
Use a quality microUSB data cable connected directly to a motherboard USB 2.0 port. Avoid USB hubs.
The massive 6000mAh battery cannot be removed. Ensure adequate charge to prevent power loss during flashing.

Finding the Firmware Package for MT6761
MT6761_Android_scatter.txt
Extract your downloaded firmware archive using WinRAR or 7-Zip. Inside the extracted folder, look for MT6761_Android_scatter.txt alongside the raw partition images (boot.img, recovery.img, super.img or system.img). Ensure the scatter file sits in the same directory as the partition binaries before loading into SP Flash Tool.

Common Errors on the Tecno Spark 6 Air
STATUS_SEC_AUTH_FILE_NEEDED (0xC0070004)
The MT6761 BootROM rejected the connection because SLA/DA authentication was not provided. Run MTK Auth Bypass to disable authentication before connecting to SP Flash Tool.
BROM ERROR: S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032)
DRAM initialization failed. This error occurs when the preloader in the loaded package does not match the physical eMMC/LPDDR RAM IC on your mainboard, or if cross-flashing between KE6 and KE6j variants.
Device disconnects immediately upon USB connection
The device is booting directly into preloader charging mode rather than BROM. Power the device off completely, hold Volume Up + Volume Down simultaneously, and insert the USB cable.
Invalid IMEI / Null Baseband after flash
The nvram or nvdata partitions were wiped or corrupted. Re-flash the stock firmware in Download Only mode with all partitions checked, or restore NVRAM backup.

Frequently Asked Questions β Tecno Spark 6 Air
Tecno Spark 6 Air features a secured MediaTek BROM that requires signed authentication. Standard SP Flash Tool cannot communicate with the device directly without an auth bypass. Run an MTK Auth Bypass utility first to disable BROM security before clicking Download.
Selecting Format All erases the protected nvram, nvdata, and protect partitions containing your device calibration and IMEI. The phone will boot with an "Invalid IMEI" error and will be unable to register on cellular networks. Always stick to "Download Only".
A black screen or unresponsive display after flashing usually indicates that KE6j firmware was flashed onto a KE6 phone (or vice versa), causing an LCM display driver mismatch. Download the correct build matching your original hardware branch and re-flash.
Because the Spark 6 Air has an internal 6000mAh non-removable battery, you cannot pull the battery. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously for 15 to 20 seconds to trigger a hardware reset.
