Complete ALL items before proceeding. Skipping any step increases the risk of bricking your device.
Guide Steps
Insert the UMT dongle into a USB 2.0 port on your PC. Launch UMT Pro or QcFire as Administrator. In the main window, verify:
• Dongle serial is displayed
• Module subscriptions show as Active
• Software version is up to date (check for updates via the built-in updater)
If any module shows "Expired", renew it through the UMT reseller portal before continuing.
In the UMT interface, click the tab for your device's chipset:
• QcFire — Qualcomm Snapdragon (EDL flashing)
• MTK — MediaTek (BROM flashing)
• Samsung — Samsung Exynos/Snapdragon (Odin protocol)
Each module has its own firmware loader and connection manager.
QcFire (Qualcomm): Click Load XML → select rawprogram0.xml. UMT prompts for patch0.xml. Then set the programmer .mbn/.elf file.
MTK: Click Scatter Loading → select the scatter .txt file. Partition list populates automatically.
Samsung: Click AP/CP/BL/CSC file fields and load each .tar.md5 component.
With the device powered off:
• Qualcomm EDL: Hold Vol Up + Vol Down + Power (10 sec) or adb reboot edl. Plug USB. UMT QcFire shows COM port.
• MTK BROM: Hold Vol Down while plugging USB. VCOM driver loads.
• Samsung Download: Vol Down + Home + USB (older) or Vol Down + Vol Up then USB.
UMT status bar confirms device detection.
Select flash scope:
• Flash All — writes every partition (full restore)
• Flash Without Userdata — preserves user storage
• Repair — writes only system/boot partitions
For a bricked device or a full firmware restore, use Flash All. For an OTA-type update, use Flash Without Userdata.
Click Start. The progress bar and log panel update in real time, showing each partition's write status. Do not disconnect USB, remove the dongle, or close UMT during the flash. Estimated time: 5–20 minutes. Watch for any red error lines in the log — if you see a critical partition failure, stop and diagnose before retrying.
When UMT shows "Done" or "Flash OK", the device will auto-reboot. If it does not, hold Power for 10–15 seconds. First boot optimization takes 3–10 minutes — do not interrupt. Once at the Android setup screen, the flash is confirmed successful.

No. Module subscriptions gate access to chipset-specific flashing in UMT. You must renew the relevant module (QcFire, MTK, etc.) through an authorized UMT reseller before the feature becomes available again.
The programmer (.mbn) file is incompatible with your device's SoC. Confirm the exact chipset (e.g. SM8250 vs SM8350) and source the matching programmer. Also: use USB 2.0 port, try a different cable, and disable antivirus.
Yes, UMT supports FRP removal on many Qualcomm and MTK devices as a separate operation under the Repair tab. This consumes credits on some device families. Note: FRP bypass should only be performed on devices you own.
This error means the flashed vbmeta partition does not match the device's security policy. Flash the correct CSC/BL files for your exact carrier variant, or use a firmware package that disables Android Verified Boot in vbmeta.
